“Academy grad Daniel Brandt got started in electronic music after playing the drums in several jazz, rock and pop bands, as well as classical orchestras. With his close friend Jan Brauer, he started the duo Scott, who made it look easy to produce deep jazz-influenced club tunes for forward-thinking dancefloors. But it was when they met modern classical composer Paul Frick that really sparked their imagination, and the three of them started the exploratory Brandt Brauer Frick trio. They build on a basis of live acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, creating their own kind of acoustic techno. Prepared piano, vibraphone, synths, rhodes, drum kits and bass guitars are all mixed to walk the fine line between club and concert hall. Having released records on Danish label Tartelet Records, the Doppelshcall offshoot The Gym, and most recently, Studio !K7, the three show no signs of slowing: 2011 saw them record a Maida Vale session for Gilles Peterson’s BBC show, as well as touring the world from Midem to Melt! to Miami and dropping another 12″, “Corky”, on Tartelet”, via Sonar.es
