Thought Gang: David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti

From 1992 to 1993, David Lynch and “Twin Peaks” composer Angelo Badalamenti worked on a jazz project together called Thought Gang. Though two tracks appeared on the soundtrack for Lynch’s 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, their collaborative album was never released. Now, Lynch and Badalamenti are sharing the eponymous Thought Gang LP via Sacred Bones. It’s out November 2. Below, check out a track called “Woodcutters From Fiery Ships.”

Thought Gang is 12 tracks long and features instrumentation by bassist Reggie Hamilton and others. “[Lynch] said imagine you’re a chicken with your head cut off running around with a thousand bennies shoved down your throat,” Hamilton recalled about Lynch’s improvisational directions in a statement.
